Wello is extending the testing programme at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney. The Penguin wave energy converter has been undergoing testing in Orkney since June 2011, and was first deployed at EMEC's grid-connected wave test site at Billia Croo on west coast of Orkney in 2012.

Focus of the test season is to demonstrate efficient and reliable device operations and performance to customers, whilst preparing for multi-device deployment in the near future. During the test period one target is to further build the business case for multi device deployments.

In preparation for the test season device ballasting is adjusted and incremental improvement to the mooring system are introduced to further build on learning already achieved through the test programmes during 2011-2014. These changes aim to reduce operational costs related to permanent deployment at sea.
