Wello has started testing at Plocan Test Site, off Gran Canaria NE coast a wave energy converter prototype Penguin II. This device extends the applicability of Wello's patented technology to new geographical regions.

The 1/5 scale device arrived last August to Taliarte harbour and was assembled through September preparing it for the sea trials. The tests are expected to last three months, although their length might be modified following the obtained results. During this initial phase, the mechanical behavior of the device will be analyzed, leaving for further phases the PTO complete test. Those tests are carried out under the memorandum of understanding signed last July between Wello Oy and the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (Plocan) .
